  Minimum Hours per Month:

  • Part-time staff must work a minimum of four 12-hour shifts per months (48 hours per month)
  • Part-time staff can work up to 120 shift hours per month; The 120 shift hours will not include training time or call back time during major events

Recruitment:

• The Homewood Fire Department is currently hiring for Part-time Firefighter/Paramedics.
• These positions will remain open until filled. 

Department Overview:

• The Homewood Fire Department has a 5.5 square mile service area and is an active Department within Illinois MABAS Division 24.
• The Homewood Fire Department provides a full range of fire and emergency services to our community and our surrounding communities.
• Our department averages over 3,000 responses annually and offers many training opportunities. 

Area Information:

The Village of Homewood is located in the south suburbs of Chicago within Cook County.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Minimum Age at Time of Hire: 18
• US Citizen: Candidates must have U.S. Citizenship
• High School Grad/GED: Must have either a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
• Driver's License: Must have a valid Driver's License
• Ability to Read/Speak English: Candidates must be able to fluently read, write and speak English
• Vision: Medical evaluation including vision and other requirements will be in accordance to the most current National Fire Protection Association Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Districts (NFPA 1582)
• Necessary Certifications (for non-Homewood residents): Candidate must acquire this license by their date of hire
• Licensed State of Illinois Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic (EMT-P)
• Certified Firefighter
