The Crete Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that endeavors to address specific citizen concerns as well as respond to criminal activity and emergencies.  They strive to provide a high quality of police service for their citizens and businesses.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Driver’s License:  Must have a valid Driver’s License and the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon hiring.
• Age Requirements:  Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday; or 20 if you have successfully completed two years of law enforcement study at an accredited college or university and be under the age of 35 years old at the last date of filing applications, (10/21/20) unless they have been certified and employed as a full-time law enforcement officer for a municipality in the United States or are otherwise exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1.  
• Education:  Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) AND an Associate Degree or 66 semester credit hours, or equivalent from an Accredited College or University.
• Character:  Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character.
• Testing:  Must be able to participate and successfully complete all stages of the testing process.
• Residency:  Must reside within 25 miles of the Village of Crete at the end of probationary period.
• P.O.W.E.R Card:  Must possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Card issued between the dates of 10/21/19 and 10/21/20 (NIPSTA www.nipsta.org, Triton www.triton.edu/power or Joliet Junior College www.jjc.edu/about-jjc/places-interest/power-testing

Applications are NOT available at the Crete Police Department or Village Hall.
